Back in early June, we came into contact with wilderness survival expert Creek Stewart, author of Build the Perfect Bug-Out Bag and host of The Weather Channel’s upcoming reality series “Fat Guys in the Woods.” Creek had a new product he was getting ready to launch, and wanted a video to help introduce it to the world. We, of course, obliged.

The product, APOCABOX, is a subscription-based collection of survival gear and information, delivered to your door six times a year and hand-picked by Creek himself (though you already know that if you watched the video at the beginning of this post).

We decided to go with a fun, tongue-in-cheek style for the video, something self-aware that would also clearly convey what the APOCABOX is. After a number of brainstorming sessions and consultations with Creek, we hammered out a script and storyboard, counting on him to play the major character(s).

For production, we worked with lighting guru (and all-around swell guy) Scott Davis, key grip Dustin Breeding (the silent warrior), Indianapolis-based Hammer Lighting & Grip, and makeup artist/beard-builder extraordinaire Anna Bratton to dial in the look and feel we were after. The professionalism and consistency of everyone involved meant that the day was both super productive, and super fun.

After working through several iterations of the edit back at the studio, and tweaking things from “good” to “just right,” we are beyond excited to share the final cut with you.
